Rachel’s 21st Nautical Birthday

***17th November***

Getting ready to go 🙂

We were invited to my sister’s good friend(since secondary) Rachel Leong’s 21st birthday bash at the Clubhouse in Seaview Condominium, Amber Road. I have known her as Leong which is exactly how my sis and gang addressed her as. Haha sound a little boyish though. On a side note, the Seaview condominium is totally posh and beautiful! They have really big swimming pools and basement carpark! Awesome. 🙂

Now these days, youngsters just have a lot of ideas and expectations for their party for sure! Leong had wanted her birthday theme to be ‘Nautical’ and so we were expected to be dressed in stripes of blue/red, navy blue, sailor costumes, pirate costumes. This time round our family were all dressed in navy blue and white. My sis and her partner BiJun had done a wonderous job, decorating the clubhouse in Nautical theme. Cool! The entire clubhouse is well decorated with little details here and there. Perfect! The buffet is from Four Seasons catering and the food is quite tasty. I have always ordered from Neogarden as I am entitled to member’s price. Hmm…Perhaps for my next event, I should consider ordering from Four seasons for a change. As usual little Darian was busy running around the place playing with all the Jiejies, Korkors and my sis’s friend’s son. It was such a cute sight to see Darian playing with the one year old boy. He was playing peek-a-boo with him which made him(and apparently all of us too) laughed and got pretty excited. During the cake cutting session, Darian insisted to be in limelight and of course Leong gladly placed him next to her. He was so happy clapping and singing the birthday song and blowing off the candles with her (as if it was his birthday). And that also means having plenty of saliva scattering all over the cake. Haha… 😉 Anyway attending birthday parties like this really makes us feel so young can! Loving it! Hehee 🙂

Happy 21st Birthday Leong! Thanks for the invite too! 😉

Sis’s Beautiful 21st Birthday

***10th November***

We are happy family! ❤

Attended my sister’s 21st birthday bash at SAF Treehouse Villas. Her birthday is on the eleven, but it would be surely more ideal to celebrate on a Saturday. My sister had got Papa Yap to book the chalet for her few months before the actual date. All SAF chalets are only open to SAF regulars and are booked through a balloting system hence there is possibility of not getting the chalet. Lucky us. 😉 This newly renovated two storey chalet is indeed very pretty. It is as spacious as the Seaview Chalet. The most outstanding part is that they actually have an outdoor bath in the first bathroom. Nice! The interior and exterior of the chalet was designed and built in the style of a typical Balinese resort. They have beautiful landscape and sculptures all around the place. Really impressed with how gorgeous and tranquil the whole place looked. That was also the reason why my sister chose to book the Treehouse Villas instead of the Seaview Chalet because of her birthday theme – ‘Country/Barnyard’. So wooden furnishing and the greens will blend in better for the theme.

My sister is currently a freelance event planner who does designs and customizations for events. She did many decorations for her friends and Baby Dyann’s baby shower too. Obviously this girl has a head full of creative ideas. She has been super enthusiastic and looking forward to her birthday. Few months back then, she had already started planning for this party, going around sourcing for her party stuff and ‘DIY-ing’ her decos. And I think her efforts did pay off. The ambience and decorations were absolutely stunning! 🙂

Yes we were all in theme! Both Papa Yap and I wore check shirt with denim bottom while our two kiddos was dressed in denim overalls. We definitely look awesome. What a good-looking family! Heehee 😉 Most of the guests were in checks and denim and some in overalls and floral. There were two of her friends who dressed up in cowboy style. Even my xiao gu and cousin came in checks and denim with straw hats too! Sporty can! 🙂

There was surplus food for everyone, buffet from Neogarden, some finger foods and mango pudding prepared by my mother. My sister wanted her birthday cake to be really special, different from the usual cake and so she had got her birthday cake or big fruit tart(I should call it) from fruit paradise and Bijun’s mum to prepare cake in the jar as well! I especially love the mixed fruit with custard tart base! (I am one fruitty cake/tart lover!) It is made of 9 different fresh fruits on custard creamy mousse. Truly delicious. I find the sweetness just right for me. Ooo… my sis has made the right choice to get that as her birthday cake! 🙂

I guess everyone had a good deal of fun. Other than the celebration, it was also like another gathering session for our family and relatives. I used to meet up with my aunts and cousins frequently before the birth of Baby Dyann. After that I totally have no time and means to bring the kids out to meet them. We left the place at 10pm. How I wish we could stay longer but with Baby Dyann, it is impossible! Overall, my sister’s beautiful 21st birthday was a success. Perfectly awesome! Happy birthday my dearest sister. We love you so much!

Baby Dyann’s Baby Shower

***1st September***

It’s Baby Dyann’s 1st month old party!

According to Chinese traditions, when a baby turns one month old, a ceremony is held to celebrate her first first full moon (Man Yue) and the health of the baby. At the same time, it also coincides with the end of the mother’s confinement period which both mother and baby are formally introduced for the first time.

So we woke up early to prepare for the day. My sister, Bi Jun and John came over at 8am to decorate the common corridor for the party too! 🙂 While the three of them were busy with the decorations, we were getting ready for the busy afternoon. Papa Yap gets to trim Baby Dyann’s hair and we safe kept her hair in a red packet. Well traditionally, we ought to shave baby’s head. However nowadays not many parents observe this practice. So instead, we trim a little bit of Dyann’s hair to symbolise the shedding of the “birth hair” (hair from the womb). After the first hair cut, Zhen jie bathed Baby Dyann in water mixed with pomelo leaves and five colours flowers. It is said to wash off any unwanted and evil vibes. And I got a pail of those to bath with too!

Bathing time!

Soon the party began. The pretty decorations was all up. All thanks to my sis and BiJun! The corridor was beautifully decorated. With the help of Papa Jeff and Ang, the balloons were all up in time for the party too. 🙂 My sister even sponsored 10 boxes of polaroid films for Baby Dyann’s Baby Shower. How nice of her! 🙂 The Buffet spread from Deli Hub was all ready and guests started coming in after 12pm. We had two sessions of buffet so that the later guests would have fresher food. 😉 The event ended around 8pm. We were totally exhausted, same for Darian. While we were busy hosting, he was busy playing the whole day. Haha 😉

Polaroids! 🙂

Photo Taking Booth

Let’s look at the pretty decorations along the corridor

We had ordered the first month cake together with Ang Ku Kueh and red eggs from Bengawan Solo for our relatives to bring home. I am glad that I’d decided on Bengawan Solo rather than Sweetest Moment (We had it for Darian’s first month). It is definitely worth it! 🙂
The Baby Shower was a success! Yet we didn’t manage to go around for phototaking except for the polaroids. Such a waste. 😦
Anyway many many thanks to all our relatives and friends who gather to give their blessings, gifts, red packets and cash vouchers to our second bundle of joy, Dyann Yap Zi Ying. 🙂
