#3 – SG50 Baby

Yay! We are expecting another precious little one into our lives in about two weeks time! Double Ds has been very excited about their little baby brother and were literally counting down since January this year. As September arrives, we can tell how excited the kids are. Apparently just the other day Darian woke up and said in excitement, “mummy, it’s first of September already!” They are definitely all ready to welcome their little baby brother! 🙂

It’s such a joy watching double Ds stroking and talking to their didi(little brother) every now and then. Sometimes when baby D moves vigorously, they giggle and ask him not to kick so hard, not to hurt mummy. Awww they are simply so adorable! 🙂

Like the previous pregnancies, Papa Yap and the kids would accompany me for every checkup. The duo are always so eager to see their little brother through the scan. During the previous checkup, Dyann got so upset and teared when she didn’t get to see her little brother on the machine. She only stopped when Dr Ang handed  her the picture and that really made her so happy.

As usual I’m seeing Dr Lawrence Ang for this third pregnancy despite the traveling distance. I just don’t feel comfortable for a change of gynae. His current clinic which is just opposite Sun Plaza, is certainly much bigger than the previous one. At least I get a seat every visit during the wait. Haha 🙂

While Papa Yap and I were kind of anticipating Baby D to arrive at 37 weeks(both Darian and Dyann popped at 37 weeks), Dr Ang estimated that I probably will only deliver after Singapore polling day(11th Sept). Well well, we shall see again next Tuesday when I go for my weekly checkup.

This pregnancy has been taking a toll on me. I have constant fatigue, especially in my third trimester. The heavy and low bump, low energy level, bad mood swings, bad aches at my back and pain around pelvic area are certainly making child minding and household chores much more tedious. It was to the extent that I couldn’t even send Darian to school at times. And for the past few weekends, we have been staying home most of the time(other than short grocery trips) as I couldn’t stand and walk for long. I feel bad for neglecting the kiddos but we will try to fulfill our Zoo, River Safari, USS, swimming outings after Baby D pops and my confinement.

Thankfully at this point of time, I have my parents in law to help me since the start of my 37weeks as Papa Yap has been very busy with work and is currently supervising a one week fieldcamp. They fetched Darian to and fro school daily and my mother in law stayed over in case of emergency. At the same time, with them around I only have to cook once a day for the kids and for dinner we would get takeaways from the nearby coffeeshops. There were also nights when I even have to rope in my sister to help out when the hubs is not around. Nonetheless, the kids are happy to have their grandparents and yiyi in the house.

Now at 37 weeks and 3 days, I feel like a whale already. This is definitely my biggest and heaviest of all three pregnancies. I know I have to work extra hard to shed off all those unnecessary excess weight but this is something that I shouldn’t be too worry about right now. At this point of time, I only pray for an easy and smooth delivery. Baby D please be good to mummy ok? We will see you soon! We all love you so much! ❤️❤️❤️

Seriously it is hard enough to get back to pre-pregnancy shape already (Alright, I still couldn’t fit into majority of my clothes!) and now I am facing this hair loss issue. This really sucks! I have been dropping a lot of hairs lately. So much so that I am quite afraid to see the amount of hair on the floor and in the bathroom. Right now I am using the Phyto hairloss series. Hopefully it will greatly improve my hair loss problem. To think of going through these physical changes again, is actually quite scary. So how to have #3? Heehee 😉

That’s why mommies are always the greatest. Not only we have to go through pain to deliver the babies, we have to face the physical changes as well. So all daddies out there, please make sure that you guys appreciate and treasure your wives and mothers. It is never easy to be someone’s wife and mother okay! 😉

Our sweetheart

***1st August***

Yes, Baby Dyann arrived to the world much earlier just as we expected. Her due date was supposed to be on 19th August yet she simply can’t wait to see the world and of course us! 🙂 Her birth process was so much different as compared to Little Darian. The only similarity is that for both cases, I was directed to the hospital on the day of my checkup at Dr Ang’s during their 37 weeks. I had spent a good total of 20 hours in labour before Darian popped. For Darian, I was only 2cm to 3cm dilated and having contraction since 4pm to 7am. Had the epidural done at 8am and managed to give birth to Little Darian only at 1.30pm.

As for Baby Dyann, in Dr Ang’s clinic, I was already 3cm dilated and started feeling the contraction at 4ish while doing the CTG scan. Dr Ang instructed us to admit to the hospital right away. The worst thing is that Darian was with us, so we got to send him to my mum’s place at Tampines and then head toward Thomson. Oh seriously, the journey was a killer! The contraction came like every one to one and a half minute. I was in tears and kept urging Papa Yap to drive faster. Haha. By the time, we reached Thomson Medical centre, I was like half dead. Wahaha… By then it was almost 6pm. I was send to the observation room while waiting to dilate further. Later, Dr Ang came and burst my waterbag after which I dilated even faster. As pain became more intensive, I was given the laughing gas while waiting for the anaesthetist to come for the epidural. Oh gosh I really needed the epidural badly! Total madness… At 8pm, I was already 6cm to 7cm dilated; the epidural effect kicks in much slower as compared to Darian’s time. I didn’t feel anything after my epidural shot for the first time, yet this time round, I could still experience pain. On top of that, I am still reliant on the laughing gas! Shag… I was like a mad, fury woman in labour. I kept asking and saying… Why isn’t the epidural taking effect? Why am I still in pain? I can feel the baby coming out. What should I do? Haha… Luckily Papa Yap was the calm type if not guess I would have freaked him out! Wahaha…

And finally at 9.03pm, I managed to give birth to our sweetheart, Dyann Yap! ❤

Mission accomplished! 🙂

Baby’s Name

Name choosing is such a headache. Every name is special and has its special meaning. It is really not an easy task for the parents and the toughest part is to decide on the child’s Chinese Name. Chinese name is much more complicated as we have to consider the meaning of each character, the number of strokes of all characters and the articulation of the name. Oooh… Choosing the right name is very important as our child will be going to go through life with it. Therefore Papa Yap and I spent quite some time doing our research and homework before we finalised with the name for our Baby Girl.

We agreed that: First, both of us must like the name and be comfortable with it. Of course what we feel about the name is important too. I suppose… Second, the meaning of the name should not be bad as it might have an impact in their life. Third, we must think about what the name can mean to the world. For that matter, innocent children and tactless adults could make fun of certain names and as parents we would definitely want to prevent such things from happening. Thus, we got to consider the possible ways that people could mispronounce or misuse our child’s name. Fourth (for the Chinese Name), we got to calculate the strokes of each Chinese characters and add up all the strokes then look up the Chinese name manual(from Papa Yap’s parents) to determine a good name. Seriously it is not easy!

After much homework and discussion, we finally decided on our baby girl’s name: Dyann Yap Zi Ying 叶子莹. For the English name, the meaning of Dyann is as: Heavenly, Divine. And the pronunciation of the name is as: dye ANN. As for the chinese name, 子 means: offspring, child, son, daughter, being, fruit, seed of. And 莹 means: lustre of gems; bright, lustrous.

Love ya, Dyann Yap! ❤

The waiting game

Into my last lap of pregnancy. As for now, I am 36 weeks pregnant. Just had my check-up done on Monday and was delighted to hear from Dr Ang that our baby girl has turned her head down, my placenta moved up and I would be able to deliver the baby through natural birth. 🙂 Hooray! It’s such a relieved to know that. Dr Ang added that I am already 2cm dilated which means that I would be giving birth anytime from now. Wooo… It makes me nervous hearing that! Alright sweetheart baby, it’s a little too soon. Please stay in mummy for at least another one or two week. Anyway Dr Ang has given me some medicine to delay birth till at least next week. Anytime next week would be much better. Though this is my second pregnancy, it somehow seems like my first. Wahaha… In fact, I feel more nervous than the first. Perhaps it is because I already knew the expected process. It’s kind of scary. haha…  Anyway I pray for a smooth delivery. We are so so excited to seeing our little sweetheart! ❤

@34 Weeks ~ Coming soon

Yay! Coming soon 🙂

My oh my… I’m already at my 34 weeks pregnancy. My girl has been real active. Her kicks, punches and wriggles are getting so much stronger. There are times when she can really twist and squeeze that I felt awfully uncomfortable and painful too! Amazing though! 🙂 Right now, fatigue kicks in. I get tired so easily that I can’t wait to lie on my comfy bed in the afternoon. Before, I seldom catch a nap together with Darian as I always think that it is a waste of time napping and I wasn’t tired at all. I ought to be spending such quiet moment relaxing, surfing the net, watching TV, playing games and even finishing up some chores. Till now! haha… Oh seriously, can you even imagine my size right now given that even my maternity clothes are all getting tighter. Not that I’m being sensitive, my sister, her friends and my friends thought so too. Only Papa Yap would think that I still look good! Wahaha… His favourite phrase “You are not fat. You are pregnant.” 🙂 Anyway I’m not bothered by it as well. I’m enjoying this period! 🙂 I have been eating durians lately. People say during pregnancy your taste buds change and at times you would eat the most unexpected food! It’s true somehow.

Last Sunday, we met up with the confinement lady, Zhen Jie, at Woodlands Point. Well I had actually seen her twice at my friend’s place so was quite easy to spot her. And I guess she could easily spot me with my big bump as well! Hehe… First impression and conversation as her employer was pretty fine. Hopefully she would be as good as we expect her to be. If not a month of confinement can really kill! Anyway, she was recommended by our friend. Knowing my friend’s character, Zhen Jie should not be that bad too. 🙂

Okay we are in the last stage of preparation. Just last week, I’d set up and tested the steriliser. Luckily it is still working after a year. If not we would have to spend another hundred over bucks to get a replacement. I have already finished washing the last batch of baby’s new pretty clothing. And so we are left with setting up the baby cot, getting a mattress for the cot, preparing the breast pump, buying and borrowing some pots for confinement use, getting the kitchen stock up with the basic ingredients for confinement food and that’s about all… I guess for now. 😉

Seeing Dr Ang and baby in two weeks time! 🙂

@Week 32

Preggy at 32 weeks 🙂

Time flies! I’m already in my third trimester, 32 weeks pregnant. My edd would be on the 19th August. So it’s less than 2 months to go. Gosh… I’m getting real nervous! Had my checkup done today at Dr Ang’s clinic. As usual, it seems like I can easily put on 2 to 3Kg every month so I’m now 72Kg heavy! Hehe 😉 Baby is in breech position and growing well too. She is now 1.7Kg heavy. Currently our only concern is that my placenta is still low and baby head is above the placenta, I might have to deliver via caesarean. Really scared. However, there is still time for baby to turn and placenta to move up to further determine the delivery. So I shall talk to the baby everyday and then we will see how things progress in July. *Keeping fingers crossed* 🙂

Somehow I really felt so thankful to have Papa Yap accompanying me for all my check up appointments. I’m grateful enough! 🙂 Love you.

Cooking Mama

Occasionally, I will whip up a spread(one soup and two/three dishes) for Papa Yap. I enjoy cooking though the cleaning and washing part sucks. Haha… Well I have not been really cooking for Papa Yap ever since my tummy got bigger and as backaches became real bad. As for Darian, I am still cooking his lunch and dinner during the weekdays. Its really difficult to bring him out for meal as he still prefer homecooked food. So I am still able to endure cooking small portion and simple meal for my precious son. Lucky Darian! 🙂 Since Papa Yap is on leave for this whole week and he has been craving to eat stir fry si chuan preserved veg, I happily told him that I would be cooking two meals for him. Fried rice and porridge with various dishes. I knew it would not be easy as the preparation time can really kills but I would try my best. In the end, everything turns up fantastic! The fried rice was yummylicious! Haha… Even Darian asked for a second serving. For the porridge lunch, We finished up everything. Great! Two thumbs up for myself! 🙂

After which I told Papa Yap that I will not be cooking for him until I pop! Hehe… Seriously after all the cooking and cleaning, I need bed rest for my aching back and feet! No joke! 🙂

Monday lunch – Yummy Fried Rice  🙂

Thursday lunch – Porridge with steamed minced meat and egg, steamed fish, stir fry french beans and si chuan preserved veg 🙂

FitFlop

***15th June***

Finally I couldn’t resist and bought the first pair of fitflop. Haha… Was really an expensive pair of slippers. As I am having real bad backaches and aching feet, Papa Yap felt it is neccesary to get a pair of comfortable shoe for me to ease the aches from walking. Heard from my friends that fitflop are really comfortable and can even tone up one’s legs. The slippers are designed and customised to help relieve back pain, posture and balance from walking. Guess what, only after paying for the fitflop, then I read the tag that stated pregnant woman are not encouraged to wear fitflop due to the inherent increased muscle load. ‘FitFlop footwear not be worn during pregnancy’. *faint* I was rather upset with the sales lady who didn’t tell us about such clause… Since I have already paid for it, I decided to just try walking around in it straight after the purchase. I did experience a little discomfort on the first day of wearing them. Therefore that very night, I (being a worrier) googled and read that alot of pregnant woman are still using Fitflop and they claimed that it actually do not affect them. And of course there are people who rather not take any risk wearing the fitflop. At last, I decided to try wearing the Fitflop out for short trips and if I were to feel any discomfort then I would keep them for good till I pop. Right now, it has been a week and it seems pretty fine to me. 🙂

Into Week 30

Have been feeling very lethargic and restless lately. There are so many times that I felt so tired to even cook for my precious son. But of course, I still have to serve my little king. Haha what to do… He is such a fussy eater. Would be seeing my little princess on the 25th. So happy 🙂 Right now, her kicks, punches and wriggles are much stronger and they are really brightening up my days. 🙂 I have already finished washing Darian’s baby clothing and all the bedsheet sets. It’s time to wash her newly bought clothes. 🙂 We have just bought a number of clothing for my princess. Wow… there are just plenty of pretty girls’ clothing out in the malls! Couldn’t resist buying them. Haha… Being a kiasu mummy, these new clothing are all like for 6 months and above. Seriously, they would outgrow them real fast and anyway we would not be bringing baby out often for the first three months. Buying bigger sizes would be more practical! But still I would need to get a few pieces of smaller size clothes. Would be going for a second round of shopping soon. 🙂

Meimei’s loots 😉

Meanwhile, Papa Yap would be on leave for the next week. Yippee! Looking forward to spend much quality time with the boys starting from this weekend. 🙂 Darian would be elated too! We will be making plans for the good one week of leave. There are a few places that we have on mind to go to. Shall update again. 🙂
