Our first half of Mother’s Day was spent together with the duo’s paternal grandparents at the Changi Airport. As promised, double Ds got to play at the refurbished Mr Bean theme SingKids playground. Seriously we are not a fan of SingKids and have not been to one for years. Though the place did look a little more appealing now with the Mr Bean theme, the playing equipment looked mostly the same. Well I really don’t think we will be back again.

Nevertheless, the kiddos did have a fun time horsing around inside, while the grandparents and us took turn to supervise their play. After playtime, we took the sky train over to the Terminal 2 for our lunch at Astons. Airport outing is always a pleasant one especially for the kids. 🙂

The second half of the day was to meet up with my family, the duo’s maternal grandparents, to celebrate my mom’s birthday as well as Mother’s Day. My sister had booked a table at the Jin Long restaurant, Punggol Settlement earlier that week. We had a feast and it was satisfying. Somehow we did manage to finish up the birthday cake too. Heehee 🙂 After our hearty meal, we took some pictures at the turtles pond outside before heading home. The kids enjoyed watching the turtles crawling in and out of the water. It’s certainly childhood simple pleasure at its best. Darian even suggested to buy some turtle food to feed them for our next visit. Yep why not? 🙂

So this Mother’s Day was all about spending time and having a meal with both the mothers. As for me, seeing my kids growing well, healthy, happy and safe is the best gift for me already. Yes I absolutely love being double Ds’ mommy… and very soon triple Ds! 🙂

Anyways the day before, Darian participated in a RC SG50 Mother’s Day celebration event. I was touched by watching him performed a heartwarming mandarin song on stage. Aww he’s such a big boy already! That’s really one great gift for Mother’s Day isn’t it!

Impromptu trip to Downtown East

***April 15***

We were all geared up for a late afternoon kite flying and picnic outing to the Marina Barrage and set off enthusiastically about 3ish. Yet little did we expected the sudden downpour when we were nearly there. Singapore’s weather is really unpredictable can! The kids’ spirits were dampen. Hence we let Darian decide on an alternative plan. He chose to go to Polliwogs at Suntec so we made a detour.

11196354_10153199965471351_6713878999795482494_n

Upon reaching there, we noticed that the place was packed. Papa Yap and I had to convince the duo on a change of venue which they eventually agreed to after some persuasions. We ended up driving down to Downtown East. Thankfully Papa Yap was really accommodative and didn’t object at all! I know he would always try to spend quality family time with us during the weekend as he can be very busy during the weekdays. And that means he is either coming home past the kids’ bedtime or staying in camp. Anyways thank you my love! 🙂

Well no Polliwogs, the Explorer Kid was equally fun too! The kiddos had a great time, climbing, sliding and plunging into the ball pool together with their sporting daddy. While I took this opportunity to sit back and relax, watch them play the entire time. heehee 🙂

We then had our late dinner at one of the restaurants. We could tell how hungry the duo was after almost two hours of play. In fact Papa Yap and I were famished too! After our hearty dinner, we went to the arcade for some games before heading home.

Children’s Day 2014

***021014***

We gave double Ds a treat to The Petite Park because it was Children’s Day. That day, Darian had a 2 hours school party in the morning before meeting their yiyi, my sister, at Changi City Point for lunch and playtime. That explained why he was wearing a costume. And because he was wearing one, Dyann got to dress up as well. 🙂

IMG_4254

Double Ds looked so adorable in costume, especially Dyann. 🙂 They had literally gotten lots of attention from people around, so much so that my sister told me she wouldn’t want to go out with the kiddos in costumes in future. Hello sista, are you sure? I saw you taking videos of them and sending to your friends alright. Haha 😉

IMG_8366

IMG_8367

Lunch was at Table Manners and it was pretty yummy. Thank you sis for the treat. I love the fact how she is able to give us treats every now and then! So much love! 🙂

The Petite Park just had a revamp and it appeared better than before. Still, this place is more suitable for younger kids. I would say probably from 1 to 6 years old. The new slides with a big pool of balls totally made it more fun than ever.

As usual, double Ds always have tons of fun at any indoor playground. So the ‘Spiderboy’ and ‘Princess Snow white’ had a jolly good time there with their yiyi until Papa Yap picked us for dinner. I’m sure they had a great Children’s Day! 🙂

Saturday at Cool De Sac

***0914***

IMG_8173

IMG_8180

During our MBS staycation, we chanced upon Cool De Sac at Suntec City and promised double Ds that we would be back to check out the place another time. So there we were, fulfilling our promise. 🙂 The design and vibrant colours of Cool De Sac looked really attractive and appealing to both the kids and adults. There was also a bistro inside where parents could enjoy their meal while the kids occupy themselves in the play zones. They have various play stations catered for kids of different ages which could really keep the ‘busy’ for a long time! 🙂 The next good thing was that it allows unlimited play time per admission. Hence, no rush for meal time at all! 🙂

In my opinion, this place is rather cool and interesting with various stations catered to keep kids of all ages entertained in different developmental approach. However, our Double Ds appeared to be more interested in climbing, sliding and running around rather than engaging in the constructive and creative play. They spent most of their time at the play area, going up and down the slides. Honestly, looking at our kids, we felt that Polliwogs could be more suitable for them. At least, they have bigger play area which allow more active play for double Ds.

Nevertheless, double Ds had a fun play time there. 🙂

National day eve

***080814***

Papa Yap and I love to surprise the kids. We simply love to see their faces beaming with joy. It definitely feels great seeing how happy our kids are. Nothing more precious than such moments. 🙂

IMG_6696-001

So on National Day eve, as Darian only had to attend the school celebration in the morning and Papa Yap was not working in the afternoon, we surprised double Ds with a visit to the newly open Polliwogs at Suntec City. Of course they were extremely thrilled! Especially given that Darian had already set his eyes on this new Polliwogs before it was open. He was literally counting down to its opening. Darian loves going to indoor playgrounds, so does Dyann. Kids being kids, just tell which kid doesn’t? Heehee 😉

IMG_6882

This latest Polliwogs, with a forest theme, in Suntec city is the largest among all. We are quite a fan of Polliwogs and this got to be the best. Other than the usual, cannonball, obstacles course, slide, toddler area, they added in a big bouncing bed for the kids. I know double Ds enjoyed bouncing on it but it kind of worries me when I see too many kids on it. The older kids might easily bump and fall on the younger ones. Still, we love this new playground. Double Ds totally had a blast! They spent two solid hours playing. Gosh where did they find those energy? I’m pretty sure that we would be coming back for more fun! 🙂

Mini golfer at Lilliputt

***270614***

Darian was very happy when we brought him to Lilliputt indoor mini golf course at the East Coast Park. His first mini golf play experience in Orlando, left him interested for more. He surely enjoyed playing it for fun but not as a form of sport. 😉

IMG_6044

IMG_6058

IMG_6067

Lilliputt mini golf 18 holes course features Singapore landmarks. The place might be showing its age, still we were attracted by the models especially those with mechanism that could transport the golf ball from
one point to another. I love seeing how focused double Ds were, watching and figuring where would the golf ball ends up at. Personally, I felt that the management could consider revamping the models of the places of interest. It would be nice to see other newer attractions such as Gardens by the bay.

IMG_6095

IMG_6063

Darian had so much fun playing the game. Although Dyann was too young to play, the friendly counter assistant gave her a golf ball to play around. And that kept her well entertained throughout her brother’s game. 🙂

Fun time at Polliwogs

***170614***

IMG_4728

Polliwogs indoor playground was one of the must-go-place for Darian after we returned from Virginia. He has been talking about the place all the time for the past one year and even concluded that in his to-go-list. Haha yes he has a to-eat-list as well! See this was just how much he had missed Singapore at that time. 😉

IMG_4723

IMG_4722

IMG_4726

So that free afternoon, we decided to give doubles Ds a surprise by bringing them to the new Polliwog outlet at Vivocity. Seeing their expressions upon reaching the entrance was priceless. They were super elated!

IMG_4725

IMG_4727

IMG_4729

Double Ds had two hours of fun exploring the new place. They were beaming with joy the whole time. The obstacles tunnels didn’t stop Dyann from running and climbing around the place. This active girl was so fast that I had to follow her closely. Papa Yap and I took turns to supervise the kids. I couldn’t imagine myself crawling, climbing and moving through the narrow areas throughout their playtime. My back would break. Haha 😉

IMG_4732

IMG_4735

Yet another happy day for the kiddos. They absolutely enjoy playtime at Polliwogs. Papa Yap and I were happy to see double Ds enjoying themselves so much too. Simple pleasure of parenthood isn’t it? 🙂

Before we fly

***3rd & 5th July***

We had been very busy meeting up with our families, relatives and friends, packing our luggage, settling administrative stuff, so much so that we missed out our own family bonding time with the kids. So Papa Yap and I planned for a two days family outing. 🙂

On Wednesday, we brought the duo to East coast Polliwogs after their afternoon nap. They sure had a whole load of fun there. Polliwogs at East Coast just had a revamp to their indoor playground and that made play much more fun than before. And of course it looks totally newer and better too. Awesome! I am sure Darian would miss playing at Polliwogs! 🙂

Then we went to the Army Museum on Friday morning and left only after lunch at the café there. It was a good exposure for Darian. He gets to understand what Papa Yap has been doing all these while. The whole trip was like a total boy thing! Heehee 😉 I had tried using the rifle at a stimulated range. Oh I didn’t expect the rifle would be that heavy until that day! But Papa Yap thought otherwise. Darian had fun trying the SOC that he spent quite some time there.

We headed to JEM thereafter. It is one huge mall with many shops. Thank goodness that I don’t stay in the west. It will be really bad for Papa Yap’s pocket! You know! Haha 😉

Changi City Point

***June***

Had a last catch up session(for the year) with my ex-colleagues at Changi City Point. Papa Yap accompanied us there so that he could help out with the duo while I chat with my friends. See how nice my hubby is! Heehee 😉 Brunch was at Eggs and Berries. For our first visit, Papa Yap and I agreed that the food quality was considerably good. Ambience was cosy and comfortable enough. However it was a little overpriced and the portion wasn’t exactly that huge as mentioned in the menu. I almost shared a platter with Papa Yap seeing the prints go “huge portion of…. blah blah…” haha…

I think they were there for more than two hours. Needless to say, it was much more convenient for us without the kids. Kudos to Papa Yap! Heehee 😉

Amazonia indoor playground

***19th April 13***

I have been wanting to bring Darian to Amazonia at Great World City since last year. So instead of Polliwogs we headed there. It is definitely the best decorated themed indoor playground I have come across so far. The whole place even the bistro is designed in Jungle theme. Very attractive! Perhaps it is a little too overwhelming for Darian. He was actually rather afraid to enter. He was terrified of the dinosaur with the protruding head display at the entrance. But of course he couldn’t resist the super long blue wave slide and ball pit! One moment he was telling us how scared he was, the next moment he was already in the ball pit! Haha kids… 😉

IMG_0505

The toddler play area for kids 0 to 3 years old. Plenty of activities to keep the younger ones occupied and entertained. 🙂

IMG_0395

There are a few rooms at the left side of the playground: The party rooms, the Spaceball room, and the Mini Golf room. For the Spaceball and Mini Golf room are additional add-on plays which are not inclusive of the entrance fee.

The good thing about going to such places on a weekday is that you can have the entire playground to yourself. There were only a few kids around and in fact there was a period whereby we were the only family inside. How nice! 🙂

Darian had a smashing great time there. He had a lot of fun running through the mazes, sliding down the wave slide, throwing balls around the ball pit. He enjoyed the play so much so that he didn’t even want to take a snack break. He made a friend there and was happily playing and running around with the boy (of his age). As expected after 2 hours of play, he cried for awhile and left Amazonia reluctantly. He told us how fun Amazonia was and claimed that he prefered Amazonia to Polliwogs.

By the way the entrance fee for 3 to 12 years is at $33(2 hours play) and o to 1-year old( tagging along/with minimal spending of 20$) is free. We think it is considered very expensive for a 2 hours play. But for a change and experience we feel it is totally alright. Well to us other than the thematic setup, Polliwogs is equally fun and the entrance fee is much worthwhile as compared. I think the best thing here is that it is situated in a shopping mall so we can shop around and eat before or after play. 😉
