We set off early in the morning as our hotel was more than an hour drive away from San Francisco. Apart from the distance, we certainly wouldn’t want to waste any time on the road during the morning rush.
Our first stop was at the cable car station. We took the manually operated cable car to Lombard Street where we boarded our bus and proceeded to our next location. Lombard street is famous for its steep, with eight hairpin turns, in San Francisco. Luckily, we were supposed to walk down instead of up. The thought of walking up that street already tire me out. The road is too steep, too steep for someone who has not been exercising for years! Heehee 😉
The third and fourth stop was at the famous Golden Gate Bridge and the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts respectively. Both were nothing more than photo taking stops.
We were given more time to tour around the Pier 39 where we took a walk around the shopping area, brought the kids on the carousel ride, watched the sea lions lazing on the deck and took the bay cruise which sailed underneath the Golden Gate Bridge, around the Alcatraz island, past the angel island then along the San Francisco Bay. Papa Yap wish to visit the Alcatraz island, however we didn’t have time for it. So we shall put it in our bucket list for now.
Following on were again quick stops at the St Mary Cathedral, Twin Peaks, San Francisco City Hall and Stanford University. We really have had many photos taken for the day.
After a long day running around San Francisco, we finally got to meet up with Papa Yap’s cousin, Zheng Hao and his girlfriend, for dinner. They are both currently working there after graduating from Stanford University. We were absolutely glad to see them there in San Francisco. Dinner was great, so was the company! 🙂
We only got back to the hotel at 10ish and the kids slept immediately after their bath. How I wish I could do that too! It was time to pack up our stuff again as we would be moving to the next hotel the very next day. And we were supposed to gather at the lobby at 5am! 😉
